The speed on a tartan track is generally faster than on asphalt. Tartan tracks are made of synthetic rubber and have a more responsive surface, which allows for better traction and faster times. This is why many professional and competitive runners prefer to train and compete on tartan tracks. Additionally, tartan tracks are designed to provide consistent and reliable performance, making them ideal for speed and endurance training. **

When the tartan track is wet during the 100m sprint, the condition can become slippery and potentially hazardous for the athletes. The wet surface can reduce the grip and traction of the athletes' shoes, increasing the risk of slipping and falling. Additionally, the wet track can also affect the athletes' speed and performance, as it may be more difficult to generate the same level of power and acceleration on a wet surface. Overall, the condition of the tartan track during the 100m sprint when it is wet can pose challenges for the athletes and impact their performance. **
